Get To Know Team TM: Sharna
Sharna is our Retail Recruitment Partner who Joined us in July 2024. Since then Sharna has gone on to successfully place numerous candidates in their dream role and has made a positive impact on our business, contributing to our Clients success. We asked Sharna some fun questions to get to know her a little better!
Q. Tell us about your career background?
I never thought I would have a career in Retail or Recruitment. I studied Law and Event Management at Uni and worked Retail whilst I studied.
A few years into my studies I started to question if this was what I wanted to do. Getting good marks wasn't the issue, I wasn't passionate about what I was doing.
To cut a long story short, I decided my career needed to be in something I could see myself in everyday. Retail became something I loved so taking a leap of faith I decided to put all my efforts into making this a career. Now I have 18 years’ experience in the Retail industry starting on the shop floor as an Assistant Manager and working my way into a Multi-State Manager role. After doing this role for 8 years across multi businesses in fashion apparel and footwear I transitioned into an amazing opportunity in retail recruitment with The Talent Mill.
Q. What is your most valued career achievement?
Thats a tricky one and a little hard to answer. I would say I value everything I have been exposed to, that's what got me where I am today. A career highlight for me is the people I met along the way. I have worked for amazing retail leaders who are experts in their field and being able to watch them in action and take learning from them has been a highlight.
Q. What is your go to work playlist to get you through the day?
As my days are so go go my playlists normally start and end my day. My playlists are all over the place to be honest. But if I really had to narrow down, I love anything that you can bop along too! Being the millennial that I am, I love the OG boy bands or a pop divas. Oh, early Ministry of Sound would also be up on my list.
Q. What about you makes you great at your job?
I'm all in! Always committed to helping my clients and candidates for the long haul.
Q. What is your idea of success?
My idea of success is continuing to push through adversity, be adaptable and be okay to fail. Just keep getting back up after you fail. Stay determined, love what you do and keep good people around you, that is success in my eyes.
Q. Tell us 3 things that are most important to you!
My husband, family & friends, and the work I do.
Q. What brands are you loving right now?
Henne! Loving everything they are doing at the moment. I would also have to say Witchery. For footwear - Adidas and New balance.
Q. Tell us something we would never guess about you?
I don't like eggs!
Q. Describe your perfect day.
A day with no alarms lol. A day trip to a winery somewhere with a beautiful view is always fun - Good company, food, and wine!
Q. If you could have anyone in the world be your dinner guest, who would it be?
Kate Middleton. I love the Royals!
Q. What is the most used emoji on your phone?
Would be either of the 2, 🤩or 🙌.
