The Brand |
This elegant and colourful Australian brand offers stunning silhouettes that can take the modern woman effortlessly from day to night with confidence. As part of the Design team, the Designer plays a pivotal role in contributing to the creative and strategic development of the brand's product offerings. Bring a fresh perspective to this well established aesthetic through innovative and trend-driven designs, ensuring alignment with brand objectives and market demands. By collaborating closely with the Lead Designer and Senior Designers, the Designer will be instrumental in the end-to-end design process.
The Role |
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Build and execute:
Work with the Lead Designer and Senior Designers, to conceptualise product design from inspiration, through to sketch ideas to finished designs
Create tech packs with detailed specifications that include garment measurements, construction details, and trim/fabric information
Create original flat/CAD sketches based on existing trends and mainstream designs
Support the Design team in developing the design direction for seasonal collections
Participate in the selection of print studio collections, OS fabric and trim lines.
Support the execution of collections in accordance with seasonal design direction & the OTB
Proactively support all critical path timelines in the design cycle, ensure design viability & timely preparation of collections
Adhere to the Design Direction whilst supporting the delivery of commercial product through the process of range reviews and sign off
Use a combination of global trends & proven product knowledge to ensure the delivery of a commercial offer that maximises sales whilst minimising markdown and achieving profit targets
Execute the development of non-apparel lines, ensuring alignment with the design direction and meeting OTB requirements
Production:
Work in partnership with the Production Manager to maintain the bulk critical path
Ensure key approval dates are met, and bulk deliveries remain on time by proactively managing the pre-production approval process
Manage factory communication around product development, fabric and trim development.
Conduct weekly fit sessions, ensure design viability, and endeavour to enhance product perceived value, reduce material changes, and improve speed to market and quality of delivered goods
Communicate information on status deadlines to team members.
The Skillset |
Strong creative vision
Strong technical confidence, with the ability to communicate articulately and effectively, applying influence across the business regarding production & product. Demonstrate a proven ability to affect and manage change.
Be passionate and enthusiastic about fashion with a distinct sense of trends, design and construction. Be responsible with a “make it happen” approach.
Strong foundation in MAC/PC software, visual/interface design using Adobe CS suites.
Must be highly detail oriented, organized, the ability to set standards and execute, as well as having strong sense of priority and follow through skills, ensuring that deadlines are met.
Ability to work in a team driven atmosphere with the ability to flex to personality styles and build strong working relationships internally & externally.
Enjoy refining systems and processes to make them more efficient whilst increasing margin.
