Team TM Visits Mulberry’s ‘Made To Last’ Event
Is it Pre-Loved or Pre-Worn?
Last week, Lucy and I had the delightful opportunity to attend an exclusive after-hours event with Mulberry. They recently launched a global initiative called "Made to Last," showcasing a curated selection of pre-loved pieces—unique, one-of-a-kind items that will be available for purchase in Australia starting this October. Let me tell you, these bags were absolutely stunning! I was particularly captivated by the craftsmanship; they truly stand the test of time.
During the event, we heard insights from Mulberry’s Senior Leadership Team, as well as Liz Sunshine from the Street Smith Agency. They discussed the significance of pre-loved fashion, sustainability, and personal styling.
Now, I have to confess: my things is handbags! After attending this event, I reflected on how often I hesitated to take a bag out for fear of damaging it. These luxury items can be quite an investment, so shouldn’t they be designed to transcend seasons? A true luxury bag should accompany you through life, not remain tucked away in a dust bag. The quality of the pre-loved Mulberry collection truly showcased this philosophy.
In an inspiring twist, Liz Sunshine shared that she has committed to not shopping for 365 days!
This prompted an intriguing question: would I appreciate my current items more if I had fewer clothes? It’s a fantastic challenge that encourages creativity in styling and getting more mileage out of our existing wardrobe. I loved Liz’s perspective—do we view items as worn in or worn out? Are we simply victims of trends, riding the fast fashion wave, or are we making thoughtful investments in quality clothing?
Could you take on the challenge of not shopping for a year? Honestly, I’m not sure how I would go!
